Flooded Sta. Barbara residents use bamboo rafts

ELPIDIO Dela Cruz and his neighbors in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Sonquil in  Sta. Barbara has their bamboo rafts ready to get into town and back home as the flood level in their area reached waist-high following two typhoons last week.

Heavily silted Cayanga River needs dredging 

RESIDENTS of Barangay Lekep-Butao in San Fabian called on the Department of Public Works and Highways to dredge the Cayanga River, which often overflows due to heavy siltation.

Landslides, erosion reported in several parts of San Nicolas

 SEPARATE  incidents of erosion and landslide were reported along the Villa Verde Road in Barangay Malico and Sta. Maria East in San Nicolas following non-stop rains brought by  Typhoon Nando.

As a result, the road, which connects San Nicolas to Sta. Fe in Nueva Vizcaya, was temporarily closed to all types of motor vehicle while clearing operations were still ongoing. (Jam Victorio)

Binmaley fishermen secure boats against typhoons 

FISHERMEN of Binmaley helped each other to carry their fishing boats to a safe distance away from the shore before Super Typhoon Nando passed through.

They were also advised by the local government not to venture into the sea as the waves were high and rough, and dangerous for those on board small vessels. (Joana de Vera)

Anti-corruption rallies in Pangasinan peaceful 

THE anti-corruption rallies in Pangasinan during the National Protest Day  on September  21 were peaceful and orderly, according to the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPO).

The PPPO monitored 15 separate rallies, participated by some 4,500 people, which all involved prayers, mass gathering, candle lighting and vigil. A total of  2,356  policemen, who are members of the Reactionary Standby Support Force, were deployed to maintain visibility in different areas; others helped direct traffic, while others manned existing checkpoints.
