The people are angry

THE moro-moro that just happened in the House of Representatives might have mitigated the anger of the public, so they say.

But for those who are more circumspect in appreciating the issues confronting the House of Representatives, the change in leadership could just merely be a show or carnival to appease the fury of the people.

We will know if such a change in leadership will affect the rallies or people power against corruption scheduled today (September 21), coinciding with the anniversary of the proclamation of Martial Law in 1972.

But this much I can say. Only the incoming typhoons and weather disturbances will affect the rallies scheduled today.

We can see the anger of our people growing more with these rallies.

There is suddenly a change of perception about the image of our lawmakers from that of Honorables to that of Dishonorable ones.

Our young people, represented by Kiko Barzaga of Cavite and Antonio Leviste of Batangas, are voicing their disappointments over the state of affairs of the country.

There will come a time, if it is not yet happening, that our lawmakers might be pelted with eggs and tomatoes, if not stones and rubbish, just to let them know that “isinisuka na sila.

On a positive note, our political system is slowly evolving into a more responsible and accountable dynamic, given the great influence of social media today.

This is good for our country and people.

I congratulate Mayor Belen Fernandez for all the programs and projects she has been undertaking in Dagupan.

I was informed that the dumpsite in Bonuan is now almost cleared of garbage, and everything related to it is going smoothly.

The mayor knows that the garbage issue has a special place in my heart.

The Supreme Court En Banc ordered the Commission on Elections (COMELEC ) on September 15 to file a comment regarding the petition concerning the deleted Online Data Processing (ODP) files.

In an official statement, the COMELEC defended the deletion, citing the Data Privacy Act of 2012 as justification for removing the voters’ information files.

As of this month, the High Tribunal has yet to issue a final decision. The petitions challenging the deletion and some other issues relative to the 2025 local and national elections remain pending, and COMELEC’s preparations for the next elections are under scrutiny.

So far, Vice President Sara Duterte has hurdled the different issues thrown against her.

The plan of Martin Romualdez to change the form of our government from presidential to parliamentary fizzled out in 2023.

The next move by Martin — the impeachment of Sara through the TriCom and QuadCom — did not materialize because of the  Supreme Court’s decision declaring the Articles of Impeachment as void ab initio.

The third plan is for the appointment of Justice Secretary Boying Remulla as Ombudsman to ensure the prosecution and conviction of Sara, so that she cannot run in the 2028 presidential election.

I believe that they will again fail in this endeavor.

What is funny though, is that instead of getting rid of Sara, it was Martin Romualdez who stepped down from the speakership.

With this, I see the same pattern as what happened to Donald Trump where all cases were filed against him and all legal maneuvers were exhausted to disqualify him as President.

It even went to the extent of attempting and frustrating to assassinate him. But to no avail.

With Sara, this can also happen.

But if God smiles at you, who will be against you?
