Guico stands firm on good governance after resignations

GOVERNOR Ramon Guico III has assured Pangasinenses that the recent changes at the provincial Capitol are guided by his administration’s commitment to good governance.

“Nauunawaan ko ang mga tanong, at pangamba kaugnay ng mga pagbabagong nagaganap sa Kapitolyo,” Guico said in a statement posted on the official Facebook page Province of Pangasinan on September 9.

He stressed that every step taken is solely focused on good governance and the welfare of every Pangasinense.

The governor explained that he was dissatisfied with the performance and compliance of some Capitol officials, prompting their replacement with new appointees.

He said the province needs public servants who can provide honest service and keep pace with its fast and upright direction, and those who cannot do so have no place in his administration.

He also assured the public that his administration would not tolerate inefficient and ineffective governance, noting that the changes were not made for the benefit of the selected few but for the entire province.

It may be recalled that on September 1, Capitol employees were surprised to learn that Provincial Administrator Melicio “Ely” Patague II and Provincial Accountant Marlon Operaña had suddenly tendered their resignations.

The resigned officials and the Capitol have remained mum on the reason behind their decision to leave. (Eva Visperas)
