Businessman shot dead in Pozorrubio
A 36-year-old businessman was shot dead late Tuesday night, September 10, along the national highway in Barangay Cablong, Pozorrubio.
Police identified the victim as Mark Ray Picar, a resident of Pozorrubio, who was driving his red NWOW e-bike when he was attacked by a motorcycle-riding gunman at around 10:45 p.m.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect, described as wearing a red helmet and black jacket, followed Picar and fired several shots at him using an undetermined caliber of firearm.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and crashed.
Responding police personnel rushed Picar to the Pozorrubio Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Authorities have launched a hot pursuit operation and are coordinating with nearby police stations for the possible arrest of the gunman, who fled eastward after the shooting.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the attack. (Eva Visperas)
