MBTF formally deputized as NAPOLCOM representative

DAGUPAN City Mayor Belen Fernandez was formally designated as a deputized representative of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) in a ceremony held on August 18 at the City Plaza.

Under Section 64 of Republic Act No. 8551 or the Philippine National Police Reform and Reorganization Act of 1998, governors and mayors, upon being elected and qualified, are automatically deputized as representatives of NAPOLCOM, the agency that administers and has oversight authority over the police force.

Fernandez received her designation from NAPOLCOM 1 Regional Director George Aplas D. Daskeo, who was accompanied by NAPOLCOM Provincial Director Phillip Raymund S. Rivera, Atty. Arnold Q. Mina, chairman of the Regional  Appellate Board.

They later met at the mayor’s office, with discussions centered on strengthening partnerships for crime prevention, protection of women and children, and further improving public safety in Dagupan. (Leonardo Micua)
