THE distribution of backlogged motorcycle license plates is continuing in various towns and malls as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Dagupan District Office urged owners to check its official Facebook page for updates on caravan schedules and related announcements.

According to LTO Dagupan Assistant Chief Maria Dolores Soliven, the office currently holds 8,157 license plates, of which 3,690 have already been released as of August 14, 2025.

Under Republic Act No. 11235, also known as the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Act, driving a motorcycle without a valid license plate can result in a fine ranging from ₱50,000 to ₱100,000. The motorcycle may also be impounded and turned over to police authorities.

The distribution covers several categories, including motorcycles registered in 2017 or earlier, 2018 to the present, replacement of old 7-character plates with new 6-character designs, and plates for motorcycles previously using temporary plates.

Motorcycle owners who missed the caravan in their area are advised to coordinate with the nearest LTO office, including the Dagupan City branch, which operates from Monday to Saturday.

The LTO reminded the public of the importance of complying with registration requirements and encouraged everyone to take advantage of the services offered through the caravan program. (Ahikam Pasion)
