3 HVTs nabbed in Manaoag drug ops

THREE High-Value Targets (HVTs) were apprehended during a buy-bust operation conducted by the combined forces of PDEA Region 1 and local police in Manaoag on August 18.

The arrested suspects were identified as Virgilio De Guzman Agda Jr., also known as Rogelio, 43 years old; Richard Villadores Tobias, 26; and Myra Salvador Agda, 44. Seized from the suspects were five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, with an estimated weight of over 50 grams, valued at approximately P340,000.

Legal proceedings are now being prepared against the arrested individuals.

Fish vendor, tricycle driver nabbed in separate drug ops

A fish vendor and a tricycle driver were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in the towns of Sual and Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

In Sual, authorities apprehended a 55-year-old fish vendor in a buy-bust operation. Seized from the suspect were approximately 6.5 grams of suspected shabu valued at ₱42,200. Meanwhile, a 32-year-old tricycle driver was arrested in Sitio Tondaligan, Barangay Bonuan Gueset, Dagupan City, who was caught with two sachets containing a total of five grams of suspected shabu, estimated at ₱34,000.

Both suspects are now under police custody, and charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared against them.

Man attacked, injured by six minors in Sual

A 26-year-old man identified as Narciso Alimorong Villon was injured after being attacked by six minors in the municipality of Sual.

According to police investigations, the six minors, all considered Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL), were reportedly swimming and drinking alcohol at the Tanggal Dam when Villon arrived and confronted them.

An altercation ensued, which escalated into a coordinated attack where the minors beat and stabbed Villon. The Sual Rescue Team responded promptly to the scene and rushed the victim to the Sual Primary Care Facility-Infirmary in Barangay Caoayan.

The minors were apprehended and handed over to the Sual Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWD) for assessment of their mental state.

‘Paltik’ recovered in trash, surrendered to police

A garbage collector stumbled upon an improvised handgun, locally known as a paltik, while sorting through trash late Tuesday night in Barangay II-III, Dagupan City.

Recognizing the importance of the government’s campaign against the proliferation of loose firearms, the collector voluntarily surrendered the weapon to authorities. The recovered firearm was brought to the police station for proper documentation and disposal.

4 injured as drunk farmer driving SUV causes multi-vehicle collision in Rosales

FOUR people were injured after a drunk driver crashed an SUV into several oncoming vehicles along the Provincial Road in Barangay Carmay East, Rosales.

Police investigation revealed that the SUV was being driven by a 66-year-old farmer from Alcala. A 19-year-old student from Barangay Silag, Natividad was also onboard the vehicle. While traversing the road, the SUV suddenly veered and collided with a jeepney, a car, and two motorcycles, before crashing into a nearby field.

Among the injured were the SUV driver and his passenger, a 42-year-old woman driving the car along with two minors — residents of Barangay San Vicente, Santa Maria — and a 22-year-old technician from Barangay Palakipak, Rosales, who was riding with a cashier from Barangay Casanicolasan, Rosales. All victims were quickly transported to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities are investigating further and are expected to file charges against the SUV driver.

Man with mental health condition drowns in Bayambang River

A 21-year-old man believed to have a mental health condition was reported to have drowned in a river in Barangay San Gabriel 2nd, Bayambang.

Based on police investigations and witness accounts, the victim was last seen bathing in the river behind a resident’s home. The witness, a 72-year-old widow, stated that she saw the man in the water but did not intervene, assuming he was merely cooling off, possibly due to intoxication, as someone earlier mentioned he had been drinking.

A medical examination found no signs of physical injury or foul play on the body.

Call center agent found dead after drowning incident in Bolinao

THE lifeless body of a 29-year-old call center agent was found floating in the sea off the coast of Barangay Binabalian, Bolinao, in the early hours of August 18.

According to the Bolinao Coast Guard, the body was recovered during a routine seaborne patrol at around 5:00 a.m. The victim, a bachelor and resident of Santa Rosa City, Laguna, had earlier been reported missing by his sibling, who said he was last seen swimming in the sea.

A post-mortem examination conducted by the Bolinao Municipal Health Officer confirmed that the cause of death was drowning. No signs of injury or foul play were found on the body.

Three injured after motorcycle crashes into tricycle in San Quintin

THREE individuals were injured after a motorcycle rear-ended a tricycle along the Provincial Road in Barangay Gonzalo, San Quintin.

According to police reports, the tricycle, driven by 61-year-old George Veloria Santiago, was carrying two passengers — one of whom is a minor — when it was followed closely by a motorcycle driven by 22-year-old Albert Solis Albuena. Riding pillion was his older brother, 28-year-old Abel Solis Albuena. Both were reportedly not wearing helmets at the time of the incident.

The accident occurred when the tricycle began to make a left turn toward Calomboyan barangay road. The motorcycle failed to stop in time and crashed into the rear of the turning tricycle. The tricycle driver and the Albuena brothers sustained injuries and were immediately brought to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Construction worker axed in the head while sleeping in Sta. Maria

 

A 49-year-old construction worker is recovering in the hospital after being struck in the head with an axe while asleep inside his quarters at a farm in Barangay Paitan, Sta. Maria.

 

The victim, a resident of Barangay Trenchera in Tayug, was sleeping soundly when the suspect, a 24-year-old man from the same barangay, allegedly entered the quarters and suddenly attacked him with an axe.

 

Responding police officers were able to arrest the suspect shortly after the incident. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the motive behind the assault.

Farmer injured after being attacked by brother-in-law

 

A 52-year-old farmer was rushed to the hospital after being attacked with a bolo by his brother-in-law in Barangay Abot Molina, Umingan.

 

According to the police investigation, the suspect, who was armed with a bolo, had a heated confrontation with his sister. When she tried to stop him, he allegedly slapped her. The victim, who witnessed the incident involving his wife, confronted the suspect. This prompted the suspect to charge at him and strike him with the bolo. The farmer sustained injuries to his shoulder and hand.

 

Responding police officers quickly arrested the suspect, who is now in custody and will be facing appropriate criminal charges.
