Dengue cases continue to rise
DENGUE downed 3,269 persons in Pangasinan from January to July this year, according to the data released by the Provincial Health Office.
The highest number of cases was registered in Rosales with 305, followed by Umingan, 204; San Manuel 181; Asingan, 159; and Mangatarem, 144. Cases were also high in Alaminos City, Balungao, Santa Barbara, San Fabian, and San Quintin.

133 infected, 18 die from leptospirosis in Region 1
THE number of leptospirosis cases in Region 1 from January to July 26 stood at 133, with a majority recorded during the widespread flood from July 20 to 25, according to the Department of Health-Center for Health Development 1.=
Dr. Rheuel Bobis, DOH-CHD 1 spokesperson, said of the number, 18 died. Most of those afflicted were males from 25 to 29 years old. (Mathew Pacheco)

Two drug pushers arrested in Manaoag
TWO suspected drug pushers were arrested in two separate operations by the police in Manaoag last week.
The first suspect was a 37-year-old from Barangay Calaocan, from whose house the police seized two packs of suspected shabu, different types of firearms, and a hand grenade. The other suspect was a 41-year-old mechanic who had three sachets of suspected shabu, different drug paraphernalia, and a Cal. 38 revolver. Four people inside the house of the suspect were also caught in a pot session. (Jam Victorio)

Man files grave threat versus attacker
POLICE arrested a man who pointed his handgun at the head of another man in San Carlos City during a heated argument. According to the victim, the suspect came to his house to confront him over a certain matter, which resulted in the exchange of hot words between the two.
The victim was able to wrest the handgun from the suspect, who then fled. The suspect is now facing cases of Grave Threat, Physical Injury, Alarm and Scandal, and violation of the RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms Law. (Jam Victorio)

Grade 9 student arrested for drugs, now with CSWD
THE arrested minor, who was tagged by the police as a high-value individual target on drugs, is now in the custody of the Dagupan City Social Welfare and Development Office.
Seized from the suspect were 103 grams of suspected shabu valued at P700,400, and P100,000 cash, believed as proceeds from his illegal drug sales. The Dagupan City Police are now preparing cases against the suspect. (Jam Victorio)

Child run over in San Jacinto now well
A five-year-old child is now recovering in a hospital after he was run over by a pick-up truck in San Jacinto.
P/Major Napoleon Velasco Jr., chief of police of San Jacinto, told IFM Dagupan that the investigation showed the child suddenly crossed the road as the pick-up truck driven by a 62-year-old was passing.
Velasco said they have already prepared a case to be filed against the driver in case the family of the victim decides to pursue charges. (Rona Racca)

Most wanted in Region 1 arrested in Rosales
ONE of the top wanted persons in Region I, who is only 22 years old, was arrested in an operation of the Rosales Municipal Police Station.
P/Capt. Eugene Navalta, deputy chief of police of Rosales, said the suspect is facing two cases of Statutory Rape filed by the family of the victim. (Rona Racca)
