Mangaldan farmers receive P4.6M farm equipment, tools from DA
FIVE farmers’ associations in Mangaldan received P4.6 million worth of agricultural equipment and other farming tools from the Department of Agriculture (DA) to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ultimately increase income.
The official turnover ceremony was held recently at the DA-Pangasinan Research and Experiment Center (PREC) in Sta. Barbara, organized by the DA Regional Field Office 1 (RFO1).
The Cluster-C Corn Growers Association in Mangaldan, covering the barangays of Nibaliw, Macayug, Inlambo, Guiguilonen, Pogo, Palua, and Embarcadero, received a four-wheel drive tractor worth P3.48 million.
The Masanting ya Dumaralos na Macayug, Inc. was awarded four units of pump and engine sets valued at P399,600, while the Mangaldan Green Yard Farmers’ Association, Inc. received two units of the same equipment.
The Guesang Farmers Association, Inc. received a multi-purpose cultivator valued at P299,990.50, and additional agricultural tools, including sprayers, foliar fertilizers, shovels and rakes, trowels, plastic mulch, mesh nets, plastic crates, plastic drums, pallets, seedling trays, watering sprinklers, and different types of vegetable seeds.
The smaller Osiem Farmers Association received a similar package of items as Guesang worth P69,574.
Leading the event were Dr. Marvin Quilates, Agriculture Programs Coordinating Officer; Atty. Gerald Tabadero, representing 4th District Rep. Gina De Venecia; and Engr. Mario Mendeguarin, representing the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist. (Ahikam Pasion)
