A total of 249 Alternative Learning System (ALS) completers from Pangasinan’s Fourth District were honored during the Graduation and Completion Ceremonies held on Tuesday, August 5, at the Macario Ydia Development Center in Mangaldan.

With the theme “Henerasyon ng Pagkakaisa: Kaagapay sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the event celebrated the accomplishments of 224 Junior High School and 25 Elementary completers.

The special guest speaker for the event was Rodelo A. Cabildo, an ALS graduate of 2007, who now serves as an Administrative Officer in the Land Tax Division of the San Fabian local government.

The Department of Education (DepEd) said the goal of ALS is to provide a second chance to Filipinos who have missed or been unable to complete formal education. This includes out-of-school youth, workers, persons with disabilities, former rebels, and other sectors.

ALS is delivered through flexible, community-based learning, tailored to the needs and schedules of the learners.

Fourth District Board Members Marinor B. De Guzman and Jerry Agerico B. Rosario also expressed their support to the ALS program, emphasizing its vital role not only in advancing education but also in improving health, livelihood, and community development.

The graduation ceremony was led by Dr. Jupiter Petilla, Education Program Supervisor, while Dr. Cornelio R. Aquino, Chief of the Curriculum and Instruction Division, served as the chairperson for the confirmation of students. Dr. Vivian Luz S. Pagatpatan, Schools Division Superintendent, conducted the official confirmation of the graduates. (Ahikam Pasion)
