Relief supplies steady amid surge in aid requests — DSWD 1

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 1 has assured the public of a sufficient stockpile of relief goods, as it continues to augment supplies for local government units (LGUs) affected by recent weather disturbances.

As of 2 p.m. on July 23, 2025, the agency released 15,337 relief items in response to LGU requests. This includes 15,168 Family Food Packs (FFPs) and 169 Non-Food Items (NFIs) for communities impacted by Severe Tropical Storm Crising, Tropical Storm Dante, and habagat.

There were 3,980 FFPs made available for Ilocos Norte; 1,841 FFPs and 169 NFIs for Ilocos Sur; 2,471 FFPs for La Union; and 6,876 FFPs for Pangasinan.

DSWD Field Office 1 has available stocks of 70,815 FFPs worth P44,227,756.22 and 15,289 NFIs valued at P34,878,540.50. It also maintains a P3 million standby fund for emergency operations and ensures prompt response.

DSWD Field Office 1 regional director Marie Angela Gopalan affirmed the agency’s readiness to provide immediate aid, saying that they are in constant coordination with LGUs to assess needs on the ground.

“Our food and non-food items are prepositioned in strategic locations to ensure quick distribution whenever and wherever needed,” Gopalan added.

DSWD Field Office 1 continues to work closely with LGUs to ensure the timely delivery of aid, especially in areas severely affected by heavy rains, floods, and other disaster impacts. (PIA Region 1)
