A Grade 7 student from Mangaldan whose family is a beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) was named provincial winner in the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) 2025 Search for Exemplary Child.

Mishia M. Santos, a student of the Mangaldan National High School-Special Science, Technology and Engineering Program, was honored by the local government of Mangaldan with a P5,000 special cash incentive for her outstanding achievements.

Mangaldan Mayor Bona Fe De Vera Parayno led the awarding ceremony, accompanied by Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Rowena C. De Guzman and project coordinators from the DSWD.

Parayno praised Mishia’s determination and academic excellence, urging other youth to follow her example and prove that poverty is not a barrier to success.

Mishia is one of the municipality’s newly awarded scholars, receiving a monthly stipend of P1,200.

Her family, as active members of the 4Ps program, also received an incentive in recognition of their role in Mishia’s journey. Their inclusion in the conditional cash transfer program made her eligible for the DSWD search, which aims to highlight academic excellence and good character among student beneficiaries.

The Search for Exemplary Child is part of DSWD’s advocacy to showcase success stories within the 4Ps community and to promote the program’s long-term impact on Filipino families striving to improve their lives through education.

Mishia will now represent Pangasinan in the upcoming Regional Search for Exemplary Child, where she will undergo further evaluation and deliberation. (Ahikam Pasion)
