Pangasinan police campaigns vs school bullying
THE campaign against bullying in schools is continuing, according to P/Capt. Aileen Calugay, public information officer of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office.
In an exclusive interview by IFM News Dagupan, he advised parents of victims and the victims themselves to call the 911 hotline of the police to report bullying incidents by schoolmates or other persons inside school premises.

Motorists told: Slow down when approaching school zones
THE Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Region 1 called on all motorists to slow down and observe the speed limit whenever they are passing school zones.
This is part of LTO’s campaign to ensure road safety for school children and teachers.

Lingayen slaughterhouse to operate soon
THE newly-built municipal slaughterhouse of Lingayen is set to operate soon after it passes all regulations set under the Meat Inspection Code of the Philippines and was given the License to Operate by the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS).
The facility’s License to Operate will initially be effective until December 5 this year, and once accredited by NMIS, it will be renewed and valid for one to three years. (Jam Victorio)

Price of meat remains high
THE price of meat sold at the Malimgas Public Market in Dagupan City last week remained high at P360 to P400 per kilogram, beef at P450/kg and P220/kg for chicken.
Vendors said they cannot lower the price of meats because they are still buying live hogs, cows, carabaos and chicken at exceptionally high farm gate prices. (Joana de Vera)

Rice in Dagupan now at P30 per kilo
THE price of commercial rice in various outlets in Dagupan is now lower at P30 per kilogram from P40 to P50 in March, as retailers buy directly from farmers.
However, some consumers believe they can save more for their daily needs if a Kadiwa ng Pangulo opens in Dagupan and sells rice at P22/kg, the same as in Metro Manila and some provinces in the Visayas. (Tina Racca)

30 km/h speed limit in urban areas proposed
A group of riders in Pangasinan proposed to the government to set a speed limit for motor vehicles at 30 kilometers per hour in urban or thickly populated areas.
Renan Lopez, chairman for Pangasinan of the Charity Riders for One PH, said the proposal, if implemented, could help bring down the number of motor vehicle accidents along the highway. Dagupan City POSO Chief Arvin Decano expressed support to the proposal. (Mathew Pacheco)

More solar street lights in Dagupan
THERE are now some 300 solar streetlights installed along various roads, schools and other areas in Dagupan following the launching of the BelENerehiya, conceptualized by Mayor Belen Fernandez, aimed at ensuring the safety and security of residents.
Dagupenos hailed the program of providing solar streetlights up to the remotest barangays of the city.

Man charred in Mangatarem blaze
A fire that broke out in one house in Barangay Malibong, Mangatarem left one person dead, according to P/Major Arturo Melchor Jr., town chief of police. Melchor said the male fatality, about 35 years old, suffering from some mental issues, was found among the ashes of the burnt bamboo house. (Rona Racca)

Cops disarm gun-wielder in Sta. Barbara
A male suspect who created trouble with a caliber 9mm pistol on hand in Sta. Barbara was arrested by the police.
Arriving at the crime scene within five minutes of receiving the report, the suspect was arrested after failing to show a license for his handgun. He was booked for illegal possession of firearm and was placed in temporary custody of the Sta. Barbara police. (Joana de Vera)
