THE Department of Health-Ilocos Region (DOH-R1), together with its medical centers, provided free pre-employment medical evaluations for first-time job seekers during the celebration of the 127th Independence Day on June 12, 2025.

The free health assessment – including complete blood count, urinalysis,/ and a medical certificate – was conducted in various sites across all Region 1 provinces.

“This will help individuals who seek to enter the workforce by acquiring their essential public documents needed for their employment without incurring fees,” DOH Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco said, noting that this is per the Republic Act 11261 or the First-Time Job Seeker Act.

Under the law, new incoming members of the workforce get the benefit of acquiring essential documents for free, such as NBI clearance, police clearance, birth and marriage certificates, and academic records.

Some 225 out 1,235 applicants hired on the spot were given a medical certificate.  (DOH-R1/CMU)
