Drug suspect killed in shootout with police in Urdaneta
A suspect was killed in a shootout with police operatives during an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Palina East, Urdaneta City on Wednesday, June 11.
Members of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group–Special Operations Unit 1 (PNPDEG-SOU1) were conducting casing and surveillance when they encountered the suspect, a resident of Barangay Poblacion.
Police said the suspect became suspicious that he was dealing with undercover officers and allegedly pulled out a firearm, prompting a brief gunfight that resulted in the suspect being shot and killed by responding officers.
Authorities have yet to release the suspect’s identity pending notification of next of kin. No police officers were reported injured in the incident. (Ahikam Pasion)
