Traffic lights up soon in Calistoga road junction
TRAFFIC is expected to improve along the Calasiao-Sta. Barbara junction with the installation of traffic lights as well as the repainting of pedestrian lanes, which are all set to be completed next week.
In an interview by IFM News Dagupan, Bernard Mejia, POSO Deputy Officer for Operations of Calasiao, admitted all these should have been completed in late April, but the contractor had limited working hours in consideration of heavy vehicular volume in the daytime. The Calasiao local government funded the project which costs about P10.3 million. (Mathew Pacheco)

Magsaysay Fish Market’s drainage canals emit foul odor
THE Dagupan City Engineering Office is working on the longstanding clogged drainage canal that emits foul odor in one part of the Magsaysay Fish Market. CEO mobilized its personnel to study the problem and to come up with an immediate solution to ease the sufferings of stallholders, fish vendors and buyers at the fish market.
Vendors said that if not solved immediately, the obnoxious smell coming from the clogged drainage canal could drive away fish buyers and also adversely affect their health. (Rona Racca)

Dengue cases on the decline in Pangasinan
THE number of dengue cases in Region 1 is continuously decreasing, based on the latest report of the Department of Health–Center for Health Development Region 1.
From January to April 26 this year, a total of 2,095 dengue cases were reported compared to 793 cases in the same period last year. Pangasinan had the highest at 945, followed by La Union, 454; Ilocos Sur, 402; Ilocos Norte, 202; and Dagupan City, 92. Of these cases, 10 persons died from dengue, with seven from Pangasinan, two from La Union and one from Dagupan City. (Mathew Pacheco)

Covid-19 cases in Region 1 few and mild
COVID-19 cases in Region 1 were relatively few from January to May, at 44, all of which were mild and moderate, according to data from the Department of Health–Center for Health Development Region 1.
Of these cases, 27 came from La Union, nine from Pangasinan, four from Ilocos Norte, three from Ilocos Sur, and one from Dagupan City. (Mathew Pacheco)

Deadline for SOCE filing on June 11
THE Commission of Elections (Comelec) in Pangasinan is now focused on the filing of Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) by all candidates who run in the May 12 mid-term election, whether they won or not, with the deadline set on June 11.
Winning candidates who fail to submit their respective SOCEs will not be sworn into office nor allowed to perform official duties, according to the Comelec. (Jam Victorio)

Seafood processing plant in Binloc under rehab
THE Philippine-South Korea Seafood Processing Complex in Barangay Bonuan Binloc is undergoing rehabilitation funded by the Department of Agriculture.
The facility, co-owned by the Dagupan City government and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, will resume operations as soon as the improvement works are done. (Jam Victorio)

2 firms found violating business name registration law
TWO establishments in eastern Pangasinan were recently issued a Notice of Violation by the Department of Trade and Industry in Pangasinan for failing to comply with the requirements of the Business Name Registration Law under Republic Act 3883 and Presidential Decree No. 1572.
DTI visited 18 business establishments, which included hardware stores, service and repair shops, and retail stores, and found two violating the business name registration law. (Juana de Vera)
