Chinese businessman shot dead in Dagupan
A Chinese businessman was gunned down late Saturday night, May 24, 2025, in front of a lumber establishment along AB Fernandez Avenue in Barangay Pantal.
The 40-year-old victim, a resident of Sitio Parongking, Barangay San Miguel, Calasiao, was declared dead on arrival at the Region 1 Medical Center after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
Initial police investigation revealed that around 11:10 p.m., the victim went back to his vehicle parked outside the lumber store after attending the wake of a Chinese friend at Quiogue Funeral Homes in A.B. Fernandez East.
About 30 minutes later, as he was preparing to leave the area, an unidentified male assailant approached and fired several shots at him.
The suspect then fled the scene as a back rider on a white scooter-type motorcycle driven by another unidentified man, headed east.
The Scene of the Crime Operatives from the Pangasinan Forensic Unit recovered four fired cartridge cases, believed to be from a caliber 9mm firearm; one deformed slug of undetermined caliber; one bullet jacket; and one deformed lead bullet.
Authorities have yet to establish the motive behind the killing.
Investigations are ongoing, and police are seeking potential witnesses to aid in identifying and arresting the suspects.
The Dagupan City Police Station urges anyone with information to come forward and assist in resolving the case. (Eva Visperas)
