FOLLOWING her expected landslide victory in the May 12 elections, Gina de Venecia said she is eager to get back to work as Pangasinan Fourth District representative with her outlined programs as well as ensure continuity of projects initiated by her son, outgoing Rep. Christopher “Toff” de Venecia.

“I am now excited to work,” Manay Gina, as she is fondly called, said as she spelled out her core program LOVE, which she explained during the campaign to the people of the 141 barangays in Dagupan City, Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto, and Manaoag.

LOVE stands for livelihood opportunities, overall all health care, values formation, and education and environment.

She also assured that like her son, she will continue to support in Congress the efforts of all local governments in the district to promote and enhance tourism as an additional income source.

She was proclaimed by the provincial board of canvassers Tuesday afternoon after getting 229,189 votes while her lone opponent, Alvin Fernandez, only had 41,239 votes.

Lending her moral support during her proclamation were her husband, former Speaker De Venecia, their son Toff, other family members and office staff.

Manay Gina will take over on June 30 while son Christopher, will leave for London shortly to do more studies in public governance. (Leonardo Micua)
