Bangus Rodeo showcases Dagupan’s best

DAGUPAN City’s best in all things bangus – from the ‘prettiest’ fish to the fastest deboner – were again showcased during the Bangus Rodeo held in front of the City Museum on April 28 as part of the 2025 Dagupan Bangus Festival.

This year, the Vice Mayor Garry Barbadillo of Milpitas City in California, a sister city of Dagupan, did the honor in awarding the cash prizes to the winners.

“I want to thank you all for your continuous support to the Bangus Festival in order to promote the best and  the world’s tastiest milkfish  — the Dagupan bangus,” said Mayor Belen Fernandez in her opening remarks.

Feedmix Specialist, Inc., an annual supporter, again co-sponsored the event this year in collaboration with Bangus Festival Executive Chairman Marcelino Fernandez, also the event chair; the City Agriculture Office headed by Mary Ann Solomon; Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources; and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office; and several stakeholders  of the bangus industry.

The Bangus Rodeo 2025 winners are:

  • Heaviest bangus – 1st 3.60Kg – Marlyn Camacho (Pugaro, Dagupan City); 2nd 2.80Kg – Ernesto Camacho (Pugaro, Dagupan City); 3rd 2.05Kg – Joseph Doria (Binmaley, Pangasinan)
  • Longest bangus – 1st 68CM – Mark Narvante (Binmaley, Pangasinan); 2nd 65CM – Ernie Melendez (Lucao, Dagupan City); 3rd 62CM – Joana Grace Fernandez (Binmaley, Pangasinan)
  • Prettiest bangus – 1st Alvin Caguioa (Lucao, Dagupan City); 2nd Dangellee Caguioa (Lucao, Dagupan City); 3rdPrime Dominic Pedralvez (Lucao, Dagupan City)
  • Fastest Bangus Classifier – 1st Melecio Melendez (Barangay I, Dagupan City); 2nd Louie Tomagos (Lucao, Dagupan City); 3rd Allan Doria (Salapingao, Dagupan City)
  • Fastest bangus deboner – 1st Jeffrey Bandera (Pantal, Dagupan City); 2nd Arnold Balolong (Pantal, Dagupan City); 3rd Huv Tendenilla (Pantal, Dagupan City)
