MALAYSIAN cyclist Muhammad Zahin Wahhi snatched the Tour of Luzon 2025 Stage 6, which concluded in Lingayen on April 29.

He was the only foreigner in the 14-man lead pack during the Stage 6 breakaway, eventually out-speeding them in the final 400 meters.

Wearing jersey #84, ranked 61 Wahhi covered the 163.76-kilometer ride from Clark, Pampanga to Lingayen in 03:31:12.

Wahhi’s finish came as a surprise as former back-to-back Ronda champ Jan Paul Morales (Standard Insurance Phils) led all the three sprints in the stage despite suffering an injury during a Stage 1 crash.

Morales’ fellow Pangasinenses Mervin Corpuz (MPT Drivehub), and George Oconer (SIP) also failed to take home the victory in their home turf.

Meanwhile, Korean Day Yeong Joo who dominated the early stages of the tour fell behind.

In Stage 6’s individual general classification (Yellow Jersey), Joo was still leading the top 10, followed by Corpuz, Jeremy Lizardo, Jonel Carcueva, Morales, Rench Michael Bondoc, Nichol Pareja, Emmanuel Dave Montemayor, Jerico Jay Lucero, and Mar Francis Sudario. (Ahikam Pasion)
