Tourist arrivals in San Nicolas surge during Holy Week
THE quiet town of San Nicolas experienced an unprecedented influx of tourists during Holy Week this year, with 41,785 arrivals recorded by the Municipal Tourism, Culture, and Arts Office, uping from 12,866 in 2024 or a 225% increase
Among the popular attractions that drew visitors to the town were the Agpay Eco Park, Puyao River Picnic Grounds, and Malico, often referred to as the ‘Little Baguio of Pangasinan’.
From April 13 to 20, the Puyao Picnic Grounds topped the list with 23,731 visitors, while Malico and Agpay Eco Park welcomed 5,356 and 12,698 guests, respectively.
Tourists hailed from various parts of Luzon, including Laguna, Manila, Pampanga, Isabela, Nueva Ecija, Baguio, Nueva Vizcaya, and neighboring towns in Pangasinan.
Mayor Alicia Primicias-Enriquez was elated, noting that an increase in tourist arrivals positively impacted the livelihoods of residents.
She urged communities to continue their warm hospitality, emphasizing that visitors return not just for the attractions but also for the welcoming spirit of the locals. (Ahikam Pasion)
