THE Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Mangaldan called on barangay leaders to help enforce election regulations, particularly on the mounting of campaign materials on trees and outside designated common poser areas.

During a recent meeting organized by the Liga ng Barangay, led by its president, Florida G. Abalos, Election Officer IV Gloria Cadiente highlighted the importance of compliance by candidates of the rules governing the display of campaign paraphernalia.

She appealed to barangay officials to remind the candidates of their legal obligations and not wait for COMELEC to take action against non-compliant postings, noting that during their Oplan Baklas operation on March 28, five truckloads of illegal posters were collected.

Additionally, Cadiente reminded barangay officials and workers to remain at voting centers after casting their votes to monitor and not to serve as watchers for any candidate.

Barangay officials are also invited to attend the final testing and sealing of the Automated Counting Machines (ACMs) on May 6 to ensure transparency in the elections.

Based on COMELEC data, Mangaldan has 69,571 registered voters, 84 clustered precincts, and 25 voting centers for the May 12 elections. (Ahikam Pasion)
