NBI files charges vs Raul Lambino
OVER DUTERTE CASE FAKE NEWS
THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) formally lodged a complaint last week against Raul Lambino, a Pangasinense running for the Senate, for allegedly spreading false information regarding a supposed Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) issued by the Supreme Court to halt the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
A similar case was also filed against former National Youth Commission Chairman Ronald Cardema on Tuesday, April 15.
The Supreme Court issued on April 2 an order requiring Lambino, a lawyer who previously held different posts under the Duterte administration, to provide an explanation within 10 days why he should not face administrative penalties for disseminating false information related to the arrest of the former president.
The court cited a Facebook Live broadcast by Lambino on March 11, 2025, in which he inaccurately claimed that the Supreme Court had granted the requested TRO.
“This misinformation has led to public confusion and has misrepresented the actions of the Supreme Court,” said Atty. Camille Ting, the court’s spokesperson.(Ahikam Pasion)
