Still Manang Imee to Bongbong

THE longstanding subtle conflict between Senator Imee Marcos and her younger brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., has now seemingly blown into a full-scale sibling war.

Although at the moment, PBBM has remained silent over issues being raised by Imee and his other critics.

This sibling war was aggravated by the arrest  of former President Rodrigo Duterte by Interpol, an incident interpreted by Imee as done without due process.

She  sees the surrender of Duterte to Interpol and eventually to ICC as a virtual surrender of Philippine sovereignty to a foreign power, which was, of course, dismissed by the PBBM administration.

Duterte continues to enjoy popular support, but at the moment, Imee is getting backlash from her personal war with Malacañang led by her brother.

Proof of this backlash is she is nowhere in the magic 12 in the latest survey by OCTA, and even trails TV and movie personalities Willie Revillame and Philip Salvador in the senate race.

Some DDS are not yet convinced of her real motive in fighting for the interest of the Dutertes, simply because she’s a Marcos.

She now campaigns alone (she was in Pangasinan recently) after withdrawing  from the administration’s Alyansa ng Pagbabago but recently endorsed by Senator Robin Padilla, president of the Partido ng Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP) Laban and now lately, by Sara Duter.

If she  does not make it in the May election, she has no other person to blame but herself for taking the role reserved for fiscalizers of the present administration led by his brother Bongbong, instead of helping him so that he can govern the country more efficiently and well.

If only she stuck to her slogan “ImeeSolution” since day one of Bongbong’s presidency, she would have earned the kudos of the entire nation.

Question: Where would she be if Bongbong were suddenly removed from his pedestal by people power, like what happened to their late father in 1986? I suppose not on the same plane with the family to Hawaii again.

So, while there is still time, the two Marcoses must sit down and talk to mend their differences.

For after all, lmee is still manang to her younger brother, Bongbong. Nobody can change that.

Meanwhile, Camille Villar shares the same pre-disposition that Duterte’s arrest and his immediate repatriation to The Hague was devoid of due process, and could lose her slot in the Alyansa.

Rumors have it that they could be replaced by Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan in the Alyansa, on condition that in case they win, they will vote for the impeachment of VP Sara Duterte.

We will definitely confirm this when the Alyansa barnstorms Pangasinan on April 25, with a grand rally cum Miting de Avance slated at CSI Stadia in Dagupan City, home court of the Team Unliserbisyo of Mayor Belen Fernandez.

Belen is an avid friend of Imee, and of PBBM.

I did not want to make enemies as much as possible during the Holy Week.

But how can I be as popish as the pope when I received a  CCTV footage from a friend on Holy Monday showing a commotion inside a Barangay Hall in Mangatarem, where a department head of the provincial government was caught in the act of seizing the mobile phone of a kagawad, and without the latter’s consent, deleted video recordings in its file.

The kagawad, according to my source, videotaped what was supposed to be the distribution of P300 to every registrant of the GuiConsulta, which should be alright since Governor Ramon Guico III himself admitted that GuiConsulta is a major program of the provincial government.

But why didn’t the provincial government department heads want the distribution of money perks in the GuiConsulta be videotaped when they are only acting on the order given them by the provincial governor in implementing a provincial government program?

The kagawad can file a case against the one who seized his phone — to the police and the Civil Service Commission — for assault and for taking away his personal property.

Then, there is another video of students of the Pangasinan State University undertaking apprenticeship at the Capitol, helping prepare ayuda packs, which consisted of rice, salt and canned goods, for distribution somewhere else, an act prohibited during the present election period.

Both of these indicate that somebody must now be running scared because of the sudden surge in popularity of the other candidate. I hope I’m wrong.
