Additional equipment, vehicles arrive in Dagupan
FOR WASTE AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT, TOURISM
THE clearing and eventual closure of Dagupan’s 60-year-old Bonuan dumpsite is expected to be hastened with the recent arrival of additional equipment and vehicles needed for the undertaking.
Mayor Belen Fernandez led the blessing on Monday, March 31, of the brand-new dump truck, a sunward payloader, case backhoe, plastic shredder, and a glass pulverizer, all purchased with city funds.
The fifth brand new dump truck will be used to pick up garbage from different barangays for delivery to the dump site, and the mixed wastes will be brought to the Urdaneta City landfill while the segregated wastes, including plastic, will be sent to the Holcim factory in Bulacan to be used as additional component of cement.
Two Toyota commuter vehicles and one Toyota Hilux FX were also delivered, to be used by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, and three leisure rubber boats to be deployed at the Bonuan Blue Beach in Tondaligan.
Two new ambulances and one fire truck are also expected to be delivered soon.
All these were funded by parts of the P557 supplemental budget No. 2 blocked initially by seven councilors in the opposition but later passed by the then-new majority, namely, Councilors Michael Fernandez, Jeslito Seen, Dennis Canto, Marcelino Fernandez and Bradley Benavidez. (Leonardo Micua)
