Construction worker stabbed after theft allegation

A 36-year-old construction worker was rushed to a hospital after he was stabbed in Dagupan City by a drinking companion, whom he accused of cellphone theft.

The victim, identified only by the police as “Bay” and a resident of Lingayen, sought help at the local barangay hall after sustaining injuries. Police officers who were on standby nearby responded to his plea for assistance.

The suspect was apprehended through a hot pursuit operation, but the knife used in the stabbing was not recovered. Investigation is continuing.

Man stabbed in Tayug wake

A man was stabbed during a wake in Tayug, where he was gambling with friends then an argument broke out.

The victim, Jovani Luzano Zamora, 36, was playing a betting game with Jomari Maconcia Corpuz, 21, and James Corpuz Lopez, 24, all residents of Barangay Carriedo, when he got into a heated argument with the suspect, Onny Laplana Abrigo Jr., 35, also a local resident. Reports indicate that Abrigo drew a knife and stabbed Zamora in the chest. He was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment, while the suspect later surrendered to the police.

Drinking spree breaks out into stabbing

A night of drinking among friends in Barangay Luna, Bolinao turned violent, and left  48-year-old Jun-Jun Cabaluna Redon, a farmer, with a stab wound on the shoulder.

The suspect, Villamor Calicdan Tugade Jr., is currently the subject of a police manhunt after he fled the crime scene.  According to police investigations, both were at the home of a mutual friend when a heated argument erupted between the two and the infuriated suspect picked up a knife and stabbed the victim, who was quickly transported to a hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

Family feud turns into stabbing in Umingan

A longstanding dispute between a man and his father-in-law turned violent in Umingan, resulting in a stabbing incident.

Aniano Godoy Peras Jr., a 35-year-old construction worker, was rushed to the hospital after he was stabbed by his father-in-law, Alejandro Javillonar Costales Jr., also a construction worker.

According to initial police investigations, the victim was inside their home when the intoxicated father-in-law arrived, and an argument ensued between the two, and the suspect stabbed the victim in the hand. Peras was rushed to the hospital for treatment, while authorities apprehended Costales in a hot pursuit operation.

P2.5M in items, cash stolen from Tayug gadget store

TWO robbers broke into a gadget store in front of the Tayug public market, and ran away with over P2.4 million worth of cash and electronic items.

Barangay Councilor Jesus Suarez Nollido Jr. noticed that the store’s door was wide open early morning, its door forcibly opened and promptly reported the situation to the police. The store manager, Mark Castro Eleccion, confirmed that the sliding door had been forcibly opened using a bolt cutter to break the padlock and the portable vault containing cash amounting to P212,360 was missing, along with various gadgets, including cellphones and tablets with a total estimated value of P2.22 million.  Surveillance footage revealed that the two criminals entered the store at around 3 a.m. Investigation is ongoing.

Farmer drowns in Lingayen

A 66-year-old farmer from Basista drowned at the Lingayen Beach after he was swept away by high waves into deeper waters and was unable to swim back.

Emergency rescue operations  by the Provincial and Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices recovered the man’s body and brought to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
