SOME 22,353 pieces of illegally sized and mounted campaign materials were taken down by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Pangasinan since the launch of “Oplan Baklas” on March 28, 2025.

According to Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Ericson Oganiza, the operation has successfully dismantled 7,431 posters and tarpaulins from party-list candidates, 5,246 from senatorial aspirants, and 9,676 from local candidates.

Oplan Baklas will continue throughout the entire 45-day campaign period.

Among the removed items were those illegally affixed to electric poles, traffic lights, and road signs.

Posters placed on private property with the owners’ consent as well as those located in designated common poster areas were not removed during the operation.

COMELEC has also reminded candidates to adhere to the prescribed poster size of 2×3 feet and maintain a distance of 500 meters between posters to avoid overcrowding.

Larger billboards in commercial advertising spaces are permitted, which may remain in place for one month for local candidates and two months for national candidates.

Personnel from the Provincial Police Office and the Department of Public Works and Highways are working with COMELEC-Pangasinan in the operation. (Ahikam Pasion)
