Over 7K Dagupan PWDs get assistance
THE Dagupan City Social Welfare Development Office (CSWDO) said there are 7,534 registered persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the city who continue to receive assistance under various programs.
CSWDO Social Welfare Officer Christine Loresco, in an interview with radio program BK- Bida Kayo sa Aksyon over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan, said one notable program is the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR), which allows PWDs to apply for and renew their disability cards directly in their localities.
This initiative also provides free therapy sessions and information dissemination.
The services include free physical rehabilitation for infants to senior citizens, particularly those with conditions such as cerebral palsy, scoliosis, or injuries sustained from accidents.
To apply for these services, PWDs need to visit the CSWDO office and complete an application form. It is important to present proof of residence and a recent ID photo; a medical certificate, and a certificate of disability from a qualified specialist. (Ahikam Pasion)
