NBI rescues 9 women in Sual videoke raid
AGENTS of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)—Alaminos City recently raided a videoke bar in Sual that was reportedly a hub for prostitution, and rescued nine women, four of whom were minors.
Atty. Fabienne Matib, the agent in charge of the NBI-Alaminos City District Office, said in an interview that after careful surveillance, they were able to confirm the validity of the information they received regarding the establishment.
During the operation, investigators found that the videoke bar could not provide a valid business permit, raising further suspicions about its operations. The women were allegedly being offered to customers for a fee of P2,000.
The owner, cashier, and floor manager of the establishment were arrested during the raid. The three will face charges under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 as well as special protections against exploitation and discrimination. (Ahikam Pasion)
