Calasiao’s Vinoya bags 2 gold, 1 silver in PhilCycling tilt

SEVENTEEN-year-old Jazmine Kaye Vinoya of Barangay Nagsaing, Calasiao made Pangasinan proud when she captured two gold and one silver medal during the PhilCycling National Championships for Road last February 24 in Tagaytay City.

Some 500 seasoned cyclists from all over the country joined the event that featured a series of criterium races, individual time trial, and road races in both men and women categories in competitions sanctioned by MVP Sports Foundation alongside PhilCycling under the leadership of Tagaytay Mayor Abraham Tolentino.

Vinoya took home the first gold medal in the Criterium Women’s Junior Category and clocked- 33 minutes and 16 seconds, beating Yvonne Alejado of Iloilo and Eloiza Pajarito of Muntinlupa.

She won her second gold in Women’s Junior Individual Road Race  in one hour and 27 minutes to edge Mary Gwenniele Francisco of Zamboanga City and Danna Barizo of Negros Occidental.

The Pangasinense cyclist claimed the silver podium finish in Women’s Junior time trials five seconds behind gold winner Gwenniele Francisco (30:51:86) with Eloiza Pajarito (31:07:66) earning the bronze.

National champion Vinoya is a Grade 12 student and is currently studying in Sir Melan Learning Center in Calasiao town. (Kim Gealogo)
