5,000 replacement plates arrive in LTO Dagupan 

SOME 5,000 replacement vehicle plates have arrived at the Land Transportation Office in Dagupan City, some of which were paid for as far back as 2015.

LTO Dagupan Chief Romero Dawaton expressed hope that more replacement plates will arrive soon so that all vehicles can sport the new plates, which are intended to improve transaction procedures as well as ease identification for authorities. (Mathew Pacheco)

COMELEC to remove advanced candidate campaign materials 

THE Commission on Elections is set to cause the removal of all campaign paraphernalia installed in Pangasinan as part of its preparation for the start of the official campaign period and the coming May 12 election.

The poll body reminded candidates to heed the order that their unauthorized campaign paraphernalia should only be installed in designated areas and should be in conformity with the sizes prescribed by COMELEC. (Rona Racca)

Pangasinenses want stiffer penal sanction vs fake news peddlers 

AN opinion survey conducted by IFM Dagupan showed that Pangasinenses are in favor of the plan of lawmakers to strengthen the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 by providing stiffer penal sanctions against persons engaged in peddling fake news.

They said fake news can cause panic and hysteria among individuals and do serious damage to the country, and expressed support for harsher punishments against violators. (Rona Racca)

Four cable thieves apprehended in San Fabian 

FOUR linemen of an internet service provider were apprehended by the San Fabian police after they were caught stealing cable and copper wires from their office in Barangay Nibaliw Vidal in San Fabian.

The company’s duty security guard detected the heist and chased the four who fled on board an L 300 van with their stolen items. The guard, with the help of members of the San Fabian police who were on patrol at that time, caught with them. (Jam Victorio)

Pork price continues to go up

THE retail price of pork in the public market of Binmaley soared to P390 per kilo last week with some meat vendors warning that it could rise further on account of limited hog supply.

Rush of vehicular accidents in Bugallon noted 

A series of vehicular accidents along the road in Barangay Bogalon in Bugallon, prompted authorities to remind motorists to take extra caution when driving in that section.

Only recently, a grandfather who was bringing his grandson to school, died when their motorcycle was sideswiped by an SUV.  The next day, a rider who was believed drunk, was hurt when his motorcycle crashed by the roadside. (Mathew Pacheco)

60 assorted firearms seized from terrorist group 

MORE than 60 assorted firearms, ammunition and explosives owned by the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Caraballo, a terrorist group operating in the tri-boundaries of Pangasinan, Nueva Vizcaya and Nueva Ecija, were recovered by members of the Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Battalion in Barangay Sta. Maria in San Nicolas, Pangasinan last week.

A former member of the group who returned to the fold of the law, tipped them off about the cache of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.

Some sayfixers’ are a necessity 

SO-CALLED “fixers” are prohibited in all government agencies, but they continue to exist in connivance with corrupt government personnel and for as long as agencies keep transaction systems difficult for the public.

Shed owners seek repair of destroyed Baywalk 


BEACH shed owners in Barangay Nibaliw Magliba in San Fabian called on authorities to immediately repair parts of the baywalk destroyed by a storm surge late last year because their businesses have been affected. They have been lost patrons because of it. (Jam Victorio)
