Bayambang Polytechnic College expands with new building
GROUNDBREAKING was held on February 6, 2025 for the new Bayambang Polytechnic College (BPC) building in Barangay Bical Norte, marking the institution’s expansion to provide more educational opportunities.
The new facility will be built on a 1.6-hectare lot and will feature 32 air-conditioned classrooms. Currently, BPC operates out of the third floor of the Royal Mall and a few classrooms at the old Bayambang Central School campus.
BPC was established by former mayor Dr. Cezar Quiambao and his wife Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao as a fulfillment of their goal to provide equal opportunities to all Bayambangueños, especially to underprivileged students who aspire for a college degree.
Since its establishment in 2022, BPC has offered free education to 905 students, primarily from low-income families, with bachelor’s degrees in entrepreneurship and agribusiness. In partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the college also provides free vocational courses.
“Many of our students work as market vendors, helpers, and farm laborers. To support them, we implement a compressed schedule so they can continue working while studying,” said Dr. Quiambao, who emphasized that education is central to the family’s fight against poverty.
BPC will soon apply for institutional recognition for its free higher education program.
The ceremony was led by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and Commission on Higher Education Chairman Dr. Prospero De Vera III. BPC President Dr. Rafael Saygo gave the opening remarks, followed by special messages from Dr. Quiambao and Dr. De Vera.
Third District Rep. Rachel Arenas also graced the occasion in support of the college’s mission. (Eva Visperas)
