Pogi Espino belies ‘withdrawal’ rumor
FORMER Governor Amado Espino III, who is seeking another mandate to return to the province’s top seat in the May elections, refuted rumors that he is withdrawing from the race.
“I have not withdrawn my candidacy for Governor of Pangasinan,” stated Espino in a press release posted in the I Love Pangasinan Facebook Page and shared by his official Facebook account.
This declaration comes in response to a post shared by a shady social media account, allegedly named GMA Davao, which claimed that several candidates from Pangasinan have decided to withdraw, including Espino.
The now-deleted post suggested that President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. had appointed Espino as secretary of the Presidential Communications Office, prompting his withdrawal.
Espino emphasized that the post contained falsehoods and was an attempt to undermine the substantial support he has been receiving for his candidacy.
The post also stated that vice governor aspirant Noel Nacar and 5th District congressional aspirant Franco Del Prado had similarly withdrawn from their campaigns.
Espino urged the public and netizens to be vigilant against fake news on social media.
Further, Espino encouraged the people of Pangasinan to unite towards a common goal to “restore the vitality and dignity of Pangasinan.” (Ahikam Pasion)
