Alaminos launches livelihood program for PDLs
THE Alaminos City government signed an agreement on January 8 with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Alaminos City Jail for a livelihood program for persons deprived of liberty (PDL) dubbed “Karamay sa Pagsubok, Kaalalay sa Pagbangon.”
The program involves casket-making, providing an opportunity to learn new skills as well as income for the inmates.
“Through this program, it is also a step towards a deeper concern and helping our fellow Alaminians in their times of grief and need,” said Mayor Arth Celeste, who signed the agreement with JSINSP Marlon Niturada.
In line with the program, the local government is also partnering with local funeral parlors for the provision of free coffins to indigent Alaminos residents who have lost a family member. (Kim Gealogo)
