NBI nabs 5 in bar raid for prostitution, human trafficking
THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) – Alaminos District Office conducted a raid at Shayawayne Videoke Bar in Alaminos City on December 12, allegedly operating as a front for prostitution.
Its five operators were arrested and will be charged with human trafficking under Republic Act 9208. The suspects are identified as Rochelle Cortez, Edmund Corpuz, Ramones Mendoza, Bonifacio Esta, and Jester Sison.
The NBI r operation also resulted in the rescue of 10 trafficking victims, seven of whom were confirmed to be minors based on a dental aging examination.
The entrapment operation was planned by the NBI Alaminos District Office following information received from a non-government organization that the bar was involved in the prostitution of women.
The rescued victims were turned over to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) in Lingayen for counseling and social protection. (Ahikam Pasion)
