THE Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) strengthened measures to enhance public safety and curb criminal activity during the holiday season, including the deployment of officers in high-traffic areas and road management plan to minimize the expected congestion.

Regional Director P/Brig. General Lou Evangelista said his office is working in close coordination with other law enforcement agencies, and local government units, for the “Ligtas Paskuhan 2024” initiative.

Uniformed personnel will increase their presence inside malls, churches, markets, transport terminals, resorts, and popular tourist destinations.

Police checkpoints have also been set up across strategic locations and established Assistance Hubs and Police Assistance Desks at major roads, churches, airports, seaports, and transport hubs, to offer assistance.

Firecracker vendors are also closely monitored to ensure adherence to safety standards.

Quick Response Teams will remain on standby to handle emergencies and critical law enforcement operations across Region 1’s four provinces.

“With the support of our partner agencies and stakeholders, we are committed to ensuring a safe and joyful holiday experience for all. Let us work together to maintain peace and security in our region, making this Christmas season memorable and free from worries,” he said. (Eva Visperas)
