THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) are enforcing stringent measures to ensure that only licensed vendors will be selling allowed firecrackers in Dagupan City.

In a recent press conference, BFP Senior Fire Officer III Florante Battalao said they are closely monitoring individuals applying for firecracker sales permits and those selling outside the designated area.

A vacant lot along De Venecia Extension will serve as the official sales area.

Meanwhile, Dagupan City Chief of Police, P/LtCol Brendon Palisoc expressed confidence that certified firecracker vendors will comply with the safety regulations established.

Under Republic Act 7183, which governs the sale, manufacture, and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, certain items are expressly prohibited from being sold.

This includes dangerous firecrackers such as Watusi, Piccolo, Poppop, Five Star, among others. (Ahikam Pasion)
