LTFRB stops distribution of over 100 fuel subsidy cards

THE distribution of 1,500 fuel subsidy cards to public utility vehicle drivers and operators across the Ilocos Region is ongoing, but the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has withheld more than 100 cards due to expired franchise permits.

In an interview, Atty. Anabelle Nullar, LTFRB Region 1 director, explained that the franchise permits for these operators had already lapsed and extensions were not granted.

Additionally, some franchise holders are no longer in operation because they have either sold their vehicles or have passed away.

The LTFRB regional office will propose to its head office that these unreleased cards be distributed instead to operators and drivers who have pending requests and have yet to receive any fuel subsidy under the national government’s Pantawid Pasada Program. (Ahikam Pasion)
