Marcoleta will be senator
By Gonzalo Duque
AS I write this, I am hopeful that the ‘Punching Duo’ of my editor, Ermin Garcia Jr., and myself will be launched Saturday, December 14. It will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. with replay on Wednesdays.
We call this, in radio parlance, a test broadcast, so that we can iron out some kinks, and some details.
The one-hour podcast will be coordinated with The Sunday Punch online, and the Pangasinan News media online, arranged by my daughter, Pebbles Duque.
We hope that we will be able to iron out everything so that we can already go full blast.

The recent sample survey form of Pulse Asia showed that the name of Congressman Rodante Marcoleta was not included among those who may be chosen for senator.
And then, the same survey firm discounted the bloc-voting strength of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, stating the religious group does not really count that much in the national election.
They said that the INC will usually just vote for the senatorial top notcher indicated in the survey results. Really?
I believe that Congressman Dante Marcoleta will become a senator, mainly because of his competence, integrity and capability as a public servant.
I would even dare say that Pastor Apollo Quiboloy might make it as a senator if the INC, Kingdom of Jesus Christ, and Jesus is the Lord will support them.
The only time they might lose is when our electoral process will be “Comelected”.
In fact, this is the fear of Congressman Marcoleta when he questioned the participation of the MIRO voting application, which has not demonstrated any track record, and tested as required by law.

The fiesta of Dagupan on December 27 in honor of Saint John the Evangelist is now just around the corner. We used to open the festivities on December 16 and have activities up to December 30.
But this time around, the fiesta was launched by Mayor Belen Fernandez last December 6.
I do believe that the celebration period is too prolonged that more often than not, they all boil down to shopping and engaging in bacchanalian feasts.
Forecasters say another typhoon is approaching the Philippines by next week.
Given a number of disasters our people have been continuously experiencing, more prayers, like that of Horatio Imperata, are needed so that we will be spared from the disastrous impact of typhoons and other natural calamities.

I heard that that the team of Councilor Celia Lim and her son, Brian Lim, is interested in securing only the vice mayoralty post and the majority of the seats again in the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
The opinion of the opposition side is that Vice Mayor Bryan Kua is becoming nervous nowadays because he has been going around the city non-stop as if he’s going to lose.
FYI, Bryan Kua has been doing this (going around and visiting his constituents) since day one of his first term as vice mayor, which started in 2019.
Our people are impressed with the friendly character of Vice Mayor Kua. He has earned the affection of his constituents because of his humble ways — always ready to serve the intestine of the Dagupenos.
I also heard that the tandem of Celia and Brian has not yet started going around the city to make their presence felt.
Is it a case of over-confidence?
Again, may you all have a safe Christmas and a healthy New Year!
