Block the impeachment complaints
SOME seventy-four anti-Duterte forces composed of civil society leaders, Magdalo faction, left-wing activists and members of the Makabayan bloc have filed not one, but two separate impeachment complaints against Vice President Sara Duterte accusing her of having committed more than two dozen crimes. As of this writing, a third complaint is being crafted.
The first focused on a recent public threat aired by VP Sara against the President, his wife and the House Speaker The second complainant was filed by members of the Makabayan bloc, to unseat Duterte over the alleged misuse of government funds, specifically over a “betrayal of public trust” concerning the misappropriation of her P125 million confidential funds.
The impeachment complaints as can be gleaned from earlier discussions at the House’s Budget hearings that showed the vice president being persecuted mainly by the Makabayan bloc obviously for her open anti-communist stand as mayor and as education secretary.
While the Ombudsman pointed out that details of the use of the confidential funds being confidential cannot be made public, the Makabayan bloc still insisted on her office’s accountability and transparency. Yet, it did not demand of the same from other agencies operating with confidential funds because it knew any move on the military-police agencies would draw public outcry, it coming from the left-wing sector.
We hope the Pangasinan’s six representatives: Artur Celeste (First District), Mark Cojuangco (Second District), Rachel Arenas (Third District), Christopher de Venecia (Fourth District), Ramon Guico Jr. (Fifth District) and Marilyn Primicias-Agabas (Sixth District) will not lend themselves to the efforts of the left-leaning political leaders and anti-Duterte forces to destabilize the country.
Let’s see our six congressional leaders lead the campaign to defeat the two impeachment complaints before the move further diverts attention away from still pending legislature agenda before the 2025 elections.
The objective of the Makabayan bloc is no secret. And so are the anti-Dutertes’. Let’s nip these in the bud before the CPP-NPA gains another momentum to strengthen its already depleted ranks, and stop the never-ending destabilization of government of politicians.
