THE demolition of several buildings to give way to the construction of the Mother and Child Hospital in Dagupan City will start soon after the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) declared the supplemental budget of P5 million allotted for the structural clearing work “operative in its entirety”

This was contained in a letter signed by DBM Regional Office 1 Director Ria Bansigan which is covered by Appropriation Ordinance No. 2298-2024 passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) on October 30, 2024.

The letter was sent to the SP, thru Mayor Belen Fernandez, on December 4, 2024.

Following receipt of the DBM letter, the clearing and demolition of existing old buildings pinpointed as site of the Mother and Child Hospital will be undertaken immediately subject to the provisions of Republic Act No. 9184 or the Government Procurement Act and its Internal Rules and Regulations.

Up for demolition are the old Land Transportation Office building and Department of Social Welfare and Development warehouse in Barangay Poblacion Oeste. (Leonardo Micua)
