Convenience store robber killed
A suspect was shot and killed by one of the responding police officers during an attempted robbery at a mini mart in Poblacion, Binalonan last week.
Cops who swiftly responded to the reported robbery in progress encountered two suspects inside the mini mart.
One of the suspects, identified as Antonio Baggay, attacked Police Master Sergeant (PMSG) Heribert Plares with a knife, who was injured but managed to return fire, wounding Baggay.
Both were rushed to the hospital, but Baggay was later pronounced dead.
The other suspect managed to escape.
Baggay’s family has since claimed his remains and brought it back to Baguio City, where he also had a pending robbery case.
In a show of support, Police Provincial Director Rollyfer Capoquian visited Plares in the hospital, commending him for his bravery and commitment to duty, and gave assurance that assistance would be provided until he is able to return to service. (Ahikam Pasion)
