Two bridges in Dagupan to be built soon
PANTAL-CALMAY AND PUGARO-GUESET
TWO more big ticket projects of the national government will soon be built in Dagupan City: the Pantal-Calmay Bridge (expected to groundbreak soon) and the Pugaro-Bonuan Gueset Bridge, to connect to a new road now being constructed from Dagupan via Silverio’s Restaurant on Arellano Street to Mangaldan.
Mayor Belen Fernandez said both were backed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Speaker Martin Romualdez, and 4th District Rep. Christopher de Venecia.
On December 4, the day she arrived from her official trip to the United States, Fernandez joined the contractor of the proposed Pantal-Calmay Bridge for an ocular inspection of the site where the new bridge will be connected to the Jose de Venecia Expressway Extension.
The Pantal-Calmay Bridge will connect to Binmaley, then to southern Lingayen via a new road built across vast fishpond areas, skirting downtown Binmaley and Lingayen, usually congested.
It will replace the former Franklin Bridge that used to span across the Calmay River before it was washed out by a big flood in Pangasinsn in 1935.
“All these projects will contribute to the economy of our city aside from solving the perennial problem of traffic,” Fernandez said. (Leonardo Micua)
