Typhoon Marce spares Pangasinan
DAGUPAN ON FULL ALERT
PANGASINAN was still under storm signal #1 as of Friday morning even as Typhoon Marce weakened, but the latest natural hazard to hit the country did not bring heavy rain and gusty winds to the province.
Commercial hub Dagupan City, which is still under a state of calamity due to the impact of Typhoon Kristine, braced for the potential onslaught of Typhoon Marce with Mayor Belen Fernandez putting the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on 24/7 alert starting November 6.
She suspended classes for Friday from pre-school to high school and warned fishermen from venturing to the sea as the gale warning was high.
Business owners were also reminded that the price freeze is still in effect in line with the state of calamity declaration.
Starting November 7, the no swimming policy at the shoreline of the Lingayen Gulf in Tondaligan Park was also put into effect. (Leonardo Micua)
