Capitol’s proposed 2025 budget: P7.1B
P1.5 BILLION MORE THAN THIS YEAR
THE provincial administration has proposed a P7.1-billion for 2025, higher by P1.5 billion than this year’s P5.6-billion allocation.
Vice Governor Mark Lambino told local newsmen the hike could be attributed to the increase in the province’s share in the national tax allocation (NTA) by around P800 to P900 million as well as the higher local income at around P600 million.
“Just like any other budget of the LGU, we are still focused on the main sectors. First of all, the bulk of the budget of an LGU is in personal services,” he said.
The provincial government has more than 6,000 employees, including more than 3,000 who are in province-owned /managed hospitals.
Other big-ticket items in the proposed budget are social services, agriculture, education, and health.
Lambino added that there is another P1 billion in the development fund that will be used for various infrastructure projects.
“And then the finer details will be discussed in the committee hearing this week. So, this month is the start of the budget deliberation,” he said, noting that there have been no delays in approval under the current administration.
“We always have a marathon of budget hearings so we can pass it as soon as possible in preparation for the pre-procurement procedures that are needed, so that when January of the next calendar year comes, the procurements for the projects that are scheduled for the first quarter of the implementing year of the budget will move immediately,” he said.
