Solar power plant set to rise in Villasis
ANOTHER solar power plant will be set up in Pangasinan, this time in Barangay Tombod, Villasis following approval by the provincial government on October 21.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) passed a resolution interposing no objection to the installation, operation, and maintenance of the YH Pangasinan Solar Power Plant proposed by YHP3 Energy Inc. and YH Green Energy Inc.
During the October 14 regular session, a top executive from the proponents presented the project’s objectives, emphasizing its role in accelerating the region’s energy program.
The project received an endorsement from the Sangguniang Barangay, and the Sangguniang Bayan of Villasis enacted a municipal ordinance reclassifying 71,531 square meters of agricultural land for industrial use, covering the proposed project site.
The Department of Energy has also granted a Solar Energy Operating Contract for the proposal.
The SP resolution, jointly authored by 5th District Board Members Rosary Gracia Perez-Tababa and Nicholi Jan Louie Sison, states that an alternative power source is a significant advancement for Pangasinan, noting the socio-economic and environmental benefits that the province will gain from the project.
Vice Governor Mark Lambino, SP presiding officer, also informed local newsmen that seven companies have received resolutions of no objection for similar solar power projects in Sual, Bugallon, Mangatarem, and Aguilar. (Eva Visperas)
