DECORP announces drop in October electricity rate

By October 28, 2024Business

POWER distributor Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP) announced a reduction in electricity rate for October following the suspension of a charge relating to energy procured from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

Atty. Randy Castilan, DECORP’s new Chief Operations Officer, said customers can expect a decrease of approximately P1.57 per kilowatt hour in their billing this month.

He explained that this reduction is attributed to the discontinuation of the 67 cents staggered collection of purchased energy from the WESM, which was implemented starting June 2024.

Despite the rate decrease in generation charges, the DECORP official emphasized the importance of monitoring electricity consumption as high consumption levels could still lead to elevated overall electricity bills.

He encouraged customers to review their usage patterns to fully benefit from the reduced rates while managing their electricity costs effectively. (Ahikam Pasion)
