Man shot dead in front of EPDH

A MAN was shot dead right at the entrance of the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Barangay Magallanes, Tayug at around 3:30 p.m. on September 27.

The victim, identified as Crisostomo Pajara Fernandez Jr., had rushed his pregnant daughter-in-law to the hospital and as he stepped outside to photocopy necessary documents, two unidentified assailants confronted him and shot him hitting Fernandez with a yet-to-be-identified firearm, and then fled towards neighboring Sta. Maria town.

Hospital staff rushed Fernandez back into the emergency room, but he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctors. Authorities are still probing the motive behind the attack.

Regional HVI nabbed in Mangaldan drug ops

A HIGH value individual (HVI) on the Regional Priority Target List for involvement in illegal drug trading was nabbed in a drug-bust operation in Mangaldan.

The suspect, Raymond Sison Santiago, a 42-year-old entrepreneur residing in Barangay Embarcadero, Mangaldan, was taken into custody based on a search warrant. Santiago was flagged by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) as a top HVI target, whose operations extend beyond Mangaldan to neighboring towns.

During the arrest, authorities seized four medium-sized transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, totaling approximately 55 grams. The street value of the confiscated drugs amounted to ₱374,000. Additionally, two open packages with shabu residue were recovered.

1 dead in fatal stabbing amid drinking session

WHAT began as a casual drinking session between two neighbors turned deadly in Barangay Cabuaan, Bautista, where one man lost his life while another suffered injuries in an altercation that escalated into violence.

According to police investigation, the two men involved were the fatality, Arjie Ferrer Badoy, a 36-year-old ice cream vendor, and the suspect, Manolito Quirimit Mengote, aged 46. Both were residents of the same neighborhood.

A scuffle ensued, during which Mengote stabbed Badoy. In a desperate bid for survival, Badoy retaliated with an ice pick, injuring the suspect. Both men were rushed to the hospital, where Badoy was declared dead on arrival while Mengote is still recovering from his injuries.

Motorcycle collision with truck kills 1

A COLLISION between a motorcycle and an oncoming wing van truck on the bypass road in Barangay Nancamaliran East, Urdaneta City has left one man dead.

The motorcycle abruptly veered into the truck’s lane on the opposite direction, resulting in a violent impact.

The rider, Christian Paul F Corpuz, a resident of Barangay Leet, Sta. Barbara, died from severe head injuries.

Government employee nabbed in drug-bust ops

A GOVERNMENT employee, considered a high-value target, was nabbed by the Pangasinan Provincial Police in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Nancayasan, Urdaneta City.

Lyndell Marc Poserio, a 22-year-old municipal staff member (Job Order) at the Sta. Barbara Local Government Unit (LGU), was already being tracked by authorities as part of an ongoing investigation.

The buy-bust operation resulted in the seizure of a package containing approximately 2.5 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth about ₱8,000.

Teenager sacrifices life to save drowning friend in Sta. Barbara

A BITTERSWEET incident unfolded at a local fishpond in Barangay Payas, Sta. Barbara, where a 16-old boy made the ultimate sacrifice to save his drowning friend.

John Brex Alonzo Guerrero, an 11th-grade student, tried to save his 15-year old friend, Enrico Duano Alonzo, who found himself in deep water and struggling to stay afloat.

According to police investigations, John immediately sprang into action, pulling Enrico toward a shallower area. Tragically, in the process of saving his friend, John ended up drowning.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in Sta. Barbara responded swiftly, but John was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
