Bougainvillea named Bayambang’s municipal flower
SOON, bougainvillea will flourish in Bayambang after the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) adopted it as the municipal flower.
This vibrant tropical ornamental plant, celebrated for its colorful blooms, enhances beautification along roadsides and gardens, based on the approved ordinance.
The ordinance emphasized that cultivating bougainvillea will attract plant enthusiasts and tourists, boosting the municipality’s horticulture industry and contributing to its agricultural and tourism development strategies.
It encourages residents to plant and propagate the flower, while the Bougainvillea Show will be a mandatory part of the Bayambang Foundation Anniversary.
The municipal government will fund this annual event. The ordinance was approved on August 27, 2024 by the SB of Bayambang, and approved for final review by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan on September 23. (Eva Visperas)
