ONLY 88 BARANGAYS STILL AFFECTED

THE number of drug-affected barangays in Pangasinan is seeing significant reduction, with 1,184 out of 1,272 barangays already declared drug-cleared, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Pangasinan.

PDEA Pangasinan Chief Richie Camacho emphasized that their ongoing Drug Clearing Operations are making steady progress across the province. Currently, only 88 barangays or 6.45% of barangays remain affected by drugs.

Meanwhile, several towns have expressed willingness to establish Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with existing Balay Silangan centers. These MOUs serve as a crucial step toward fulfilling the necessary documentation to officially declare a town as drug-cleared.

Camacho also highlighted the agency’s mission to conduct training and workshops as part of their anti-drug campaign to help law enforcement personnel and community members combat illegal drug activities effectively.

He called on the public to collaborate with the appeal to share information about individuals involved in the illegal drug trade.

Camacho also urged barangay officials to join forces, emphasizing that this fight against drugs is not solely the responsibility of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and PDEA but a collective effort involving every citizen. (Ahikam Pasion)
